HSBC Corporate Challenge

On Saturday 18th November corporate teams took on the challenge of wind and sea competing in the annual HSBC Corporate Sailing Challenge managed by the RegattaSailingAcademyat their Sailing Centre, Intercontinental Hotel Doha.

HSBC host this event every year as part of a friendly outreach to businessmen in the town who like to enjoy a day of fun and challenges away from the office.

Fifteen companies each with two team members entered the knock-out competition around a challenging course testing sailing skills and team experience. The gusty northerly winds provided the most exciting racing yet in the history of the HSBC Challenge giving the more experienced sailors the upper edge.

Winners of the prestigious HSBC Corporate Sailing Challenge Trophy for 2006 were the Maersk Team : Jakob Thomasen and Michael Anderson followed in second place by Qatar Shell Service Co : Jan Wind and Scott Schultz; in Third place Sasol Chevron : Pat Butcher and Nick Woodhouse. Lucy Havard-Williams, Personal Financial Services Manager of HSBC presented the awards; she said that HSBC is delighted to sponsor this event and to give the business community an opportunity to meet up in an informal atmosphere.
